For me, it usually starts with Fabric.  This time, I was lucky enough to be gifted two beautiful pieces of silk from my friend, assistant and fellow fabric-lover, Maria Chenut.  The first, was the beautiful pink fuchsia colored silk sari, in the left photo above.  It has a gorgeous iridescence and delicate floral print in black throughout.  The second is a purple and yellow ombre silk charmeuse (see photo on right).  Lucky Me!

Both seemed to need something a little more, so a trip to Britex Fabrics in SF was definitely in order.  As you can see, above, I've come up with pretty fabrics to pair with each.  It's hard to see from the photo but the silk on top of the yellow/purple fabric is an iridescent sheer silk that blends the two/three colors quite nicely.

Then it was on to Pinterest to find some late 1920's styles to draw more inspiration.  As you can see in the photo above, the styles have some common details - they are all sleeveless, have an uneven hem, have fitted, column-like bodices and skirts with movement.

Having set up a board in Pinterest, I been pinning madly at night before I go to bed for the last month or so.  There are so many gorgeous gowns.  I really was born in the wrong era!

This week I've done some actual drawing for the dress I hope to make.  Sadly, I'm having trouble deciding between two styles.  Maybe YOU can help me choose.  It might just come down to doing both and seeing which dress works for me on the night of, but there are accessories to buy, so I do need to make a decision in the near future.....
